I bought a battery and now what?

19 November 2024

The topic of battery management has gained significant importance in Bulgaria recently, especially with the decision on the financing program supporting electricity generation and storage. Simply purchasing a battery is only the beginning. Much more important is the way in which the battery is managed to provide optimum return and efficiency, says Svetoslava Jancheva (Sales Director of Solarity BG).

At Solarity BG we rely on innovation, sustainability and energy of the future. Our main goal is to offer a complete service to businesses. We design, build and maintain highly efficient systems that use renewable sources to generate and store electricity.

After the photovoltaic plants are built, energy storage comes next. The anticipated “boom” in industrial batteries is just the beginning of a larger shift toward energy transformation.

But what happens after we install the battery?

If we don’t manage it properly its efficiency is lost. There comes a point at which our investment may be ineffective. If an industrial battery is not charged and discharged properly, it can lead to cell wear, reduced energy density, shortened life cycles and other failures. Last but not least is the financial loss that will inevitably be generated in the absence of proper management.

This is where our specialized software – Visible Energy – comes in.

What sets us apart from most battery suppliers is that we offer a coherent solution to our customers. Visible Energy provides the ability to effectively manage energy resources in real time. Through it, we close the circle of service to the customer, adds Jancheva. We implement the battery and then start managing it in the most advantageous way for the company. This is a key advantage! Visible Energy empowers customers to not only optimize their consumption, but also generate profit from electricity management.

The most important aspects:

Active energy cost management with profitability: By monitoring the stock market price, the software provides successful solutions – charge when the price is low and store, or sell when it is high. In the specific graph we point out the price when charging is 190 BGN per MWh and when discharging is 600 BGN. In this particular case, we have a difference of BGN 410 MWh. So, customers can use this surplus to sell on the open energy market or to cover their own needs, adds Yancheva.

Balancing costs – Smart discharge optimizes costs. This aspect is becoming increasingly important due to the growing use of renewable energy sources, which often create intermittent power supplies.

All of these processes require quality and reliability – from plant design, to battery installation, to power storage and management. Solarity BG offers its customers and partners a service where the company purchases and balances the electricity from renewable energy sources. This is done through our own company – Energy Style that offers an innovative solution, enabling photovoltaic power plants owners to optimize their power generation and financial returns. Linking the software directly to the electricity retailer provides unique price optimization opportunities.

Thanks to this integration, customers can benefit from more flexible and competitive solutions tailored to market dynamics. In addition, the trader offers innovative algorithms and additional services that ensure maximum efficiency in energy realization. This combination ensures not only lower costs but also more sustainable management of energy resources.

Since its inception, Solarity BG has strived to provide real solutions to customers. We can proudly say that today we offer coherent services that cover all aspects of modern energy systems and technologies – from design and installation to monitoring, maintenance and optimization.
