Solarity BG presents an innovative solution that enables owners of photovoltaic power plants to optimize both energy generation and financial returns by utilizing real-time electricity market prices.
The software incorporates advanced algorithms for controlling both combined BESS + PV systems and standalone energy storage or PV installations.
For self-consumption photovoltaic systems that sell surplus energy, the system automatically switches to self-consumption mode whenever the market price of electricity drops below a threshold value predefined by the client.
When the power grid fails, solar inverters normally stop generating electricity. This is by design and for important safety reasons:

When the grid is down, energy returned from solar inverters can cause electric shock or injury to maintenance personnel.

Sudden voltage restoration to the grid can lead to short circuits and equipment damage due to unsynchronized phase signals between the inverter output and the grid.
Our energy storage system offers a solution by physically isolating the solar inverters from the grid in case of an outage. This creates an autonomous system where the solar inverters continue generating electricity and charging the battery. Thus, even during frequent or prolonged power failures, solar energy can still be stored in the battery and later fed back into the grid once the issue is resolved.
The algorithm embedded in our Visible Energy EMS software manages the proper charging and discharging of the battery during such emergency conditions. As illustrated in the graph, this approach is particularly valuable for large-scale systems, where frequent or extended power interruptions can result in significant energy losses.
Visible Energy incorporates a wide range of control algorithms for energy storage systems. These include both algorithms for coordinated operation with photovoltaic plants and for standalone storage systems that charge and discharge energy based on electricity market prices.
