Sometimes, a vision doesn’t just transform a company — it reshapes entire industries.
The following interview is a story of sustainability, consistency, and a deep belief that renewable energy is not just about technology — it’s about culture.
With words charged with purpose, Eng. Antoaneta Kalofyerova, Managing Director of Solarity BG, shares the mission that drives our work: To build solutions that illuminate the future
Ms. Kalofyerova, what was the first major project Solarity BG completed, and how did you feel when it was done?
For over 15 years, Solarity BG has been active in the field of renewable energy — and yes, our very first large-scale project is still a vivid memory for me. People often remember the emotion tied to an event more than the facts or figures, and that’s exactly why this project remains so meaningful.
It was a truly exciting experience — we built a solar power plant on a long-abandoned field, which today provides stable electricity to the entire surrounding area. At the time, there were only seven or eight such plants in the country — these were the first steps of the solar industry in Bulgaria.
The satisfaction of creating something of real value and seeing it operate successfully for years is immeasurable. That first 2 MW plant is still in operation, and later became the first project in the country to include an energy storage system. It became a landmark project — for the region, for the investor, for us as a team, for the energy sector, for financing institutions, and for Bulgaria as a whole.
That success was shared by all — and reminded us of something important: with success comes responsibility. The responsibility to maintain the same high level of work and professionalism in every project that follows.
What have you never let go of — what have you never compromised on?
We’ve never let go of who we are and the values we started with. From day one, we knew we wanted to build not just a business, but a culture — one built on love for our work, mutual trust, respect, and professional integrity.
We’re guided by principles that still hold strong today. We don’t compromise on quality, attitude, or ethics — because we believe that truly sustainable results come from work done with heart, not obligation.
To us, success is not at any cost — it’s a result of staying true to our values.
We’ve grown — from a small team to a company handling large-scale projects. But we’ve remained the same in one key way: in our drive for excellence, for continuous improvement, and for being clear, fair, and committed in everything we do.
The trust we receive from partners and clients is never taken for granted. It is earned — slowly, steadily — through actions that speak louder than words.
What do clients most often come to Solarity BG for?
Clients come to Solarity BG for our ability to deliver complete energy solutions — from the design and construction of solar power plants, to the integration of storage systems, energy trading, and intelligent software platforms.
In recent years, we’ve seen growing interest specifically in energy storage systems, which clearly shows that the market is seeking more independence, flexibility, and resilience.
Every client who comes to us receives more than just a technical solution — they gain a long-term partner.
We are not just builders or installers. We create technical solutions that matter.
Tell us about Visible Energy. What are the advantages of the software, and how does it align with your digitalization strategy?
Visible Energy is the natural extension of everything we do — from designing and building solar power plants to integrating energy storage systems.
The platform enables intelligent management of energy infrastructure, optimizing generation, storage, and consumption in real time.
It is our tool for achieving full energy efficiency and independence — a key element in our strategy for digital transformation and smarter energy systems.
At the Forbes ESG Summit 2025, you mentioned that administrative burden and lack of coordination between institutions remain major obstacles for investors in the renewable energy sector. What changes could help ease this pressure on businesses?
The administrative burden continues to be one of the most significant barriers to the development of the renewable energy sector. It’s not just about the volume of paperwork — it’s about redundant procedures, conflicting requirements, and a lack of predictability. In some cases, there are no deadlines at all. These factors discourage investors right from the start.
The solution lies in clear regulations, fully digitalized processes, and a unified administrative mechanism — one that applies nationwide, rather than depending on the local grid operator or transmission company.
At Solarity, we have a dedicated team of experts who handle these processes on behalf of our clients — quickly, efficiently, and without unnecessary complexity. If investors are left to manage all the applications and documentation themselves, the risk of errors and delays becomes too high.
What did you feel upon completing your most recent major project? How have your thoughts and dreams evolved since the beginning? And what do you envision for Solarity BG in the coming years?
When we completed our latest major project, the first thing I felt was a shift in responsibility. We are no longer just a contractor for complex energy infrastructure — we are a company shaping the direction of the sector.
Back in 2022, when we installed our first energy storage system, we knew it was just the beginning. We invested in innovation, in research, and in the future. We believed an energy revolution was coming — and we wanted to be part of it from day one.
Today, we approach things with a different level of maturity. We think in terms of systems, integrated solutions, and sustainable models.
In the years ahead, my vision for Solarity BG is to become more than an integrator — to become a driving force of transformation, delivering real, functional solutions for both businesses and society.
What kind of world do you want to live and do business in?
I want us to live and do business in a world that is not only technologically advanced but also deeply responsible. Our actions today shape the future of tomorrow, and no one but ourselves stands at the center of that responsibility.
The moment we realize that everything depends on us, the light shines with a different intensity. Technologies are evolving rapidly — and we are part of that change. We develop innovations powered by artificial intelligence, yet we never forget the human element — because it is the beginning and the meaning behind every transformation.
We believe in sustainability not as a mere buzzword, but as a core value — reflected in how we think, produce, and consume. For us, business is a tool for positive change.
If our energy solutions can contribute to cleaner air, a healthier environment, and a more meaningful future — then we are on the right path.
We strive for a world where our children and grandchildren feel proud, engaged, and valued — a world that respects nature and makes decisions with the future in mind.
